On 10th May 2024, Tempo.co published an op-ed by Asia Centre’s regional director Dr. James Gomez, and Celito Arlegue, Executive Director of the Council of Asian Liberals and Democrats, following the panel on “Building Synergy and Intergenerational Solidarity: Asian Political Parties and Civil Society for Democracy” for the Global Democracy Coalition’s Partners for Democracy Day held in Seoul on 19 March 2024.

The op-ed highlights the rising need to establish a Pan-Asian Alliance of CSOs, diaspora communities and political parties to champion democratic values in the face of growing authoritarianism and the erosion of democratic freedoms.
