About the Role
The Media Associate (MA), who must be proficient in written and spoken English, would draft articles and social media text. Other duties include producing high-quality multimedia content, managing social media platforms, and supporting the development and implementation of media and communication strategies across Asia Centre’s regional offices. Additionally, the role also involves supporting Media Officer (MO) in the production of visuals such as photos, videos, and infographics.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in drafting press releases, event articles, and activity reports
- Develop digital content such as icons, infographics, tiles, etc, using Canva
- Format and lay out reports for online publication
- Upload article, pictures, infographics and reports onto Asia Centre websites
- Schedule and draft social media posts for all Asia Centre channels
- Assist in setting up and operating media equipment for photography, audio, and videography
- Ensure timely dissemination of event-related materials to relevant stakeholders
- Assist in maintaining relationships with media outlets, journalists, and partners
- Maintain an inventory of media tools and equipment, ensuring proper functionality and readiness for use
- Adhere to Asia Centre’s brand guidelines, ensuring all media outputs consistently reflect the organisation’s professional standards
Minimum Qualifications
- Malaysian National, aged 28 and above
- Be based in Johor Bahru or Nusajaya, with personal transport and accommodation
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Media, Communications, Journalism, or a related field
- At least 3-5 years of experience in media production, communications, or a related role
- Experience with content drafting (e.g., press releases, news articles) and editing.
- Familiarity with media equipment (cameras, microphones, lighting) and multimedia tools (e.g., Adobe Suite, Canva)
- Excellent oral, written and public presentation skills in English
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Self-motivated and able to work under pressure and manage competing deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to document information accurately
- Technical skills in photography, audio/video recording, and editing

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview. Following the interview, a timed, written assessment will be issued as part of a proficiency test. A further interview and final selection will be made thereafter.
