ASIA CENTRE'S 2024 INTERNS​

Bipashwi Shrestha

Bipashwi Shresthawas is a Communication and Programme intern at Asia Centre Research Hub from January to May 2024. She is a Nepali citizen enrolled in the Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance Programme at Siam University in Thailand.

Bipashwi, who has 2–3 years of experience in digital marketing across various industries in Nepal, aims to contribute to the internship programme with Asia Centre with her comprehensive skill set that includes expertise in SEO, social media marketing, content creation, PPC campaigns, and graphic design using tools like Photoshop and Adobe Suite. She is also certified in advanced digital marketing tools such as Google Analytics.

Benjamin Brien

Benjamin Brien is a research intern at Asia Centre Research Hub from February to May 2024. Benjamin is a 2023 New Colombo Plan Scholar studying International Relations and Political Science at Korea University in Seoul as part of the 2023 New Colombo Plan Scholarship. 

Having work experience from the Australian Public Health Service in providing mental health services, delivering educational programs, coordinating COVID-19 response teams, and holding leadership and management roles, Ben hopes to contribute to the Centre through his internship programme in addressing issues of human rights, mental health, and social impact in the Asia-Pacific region, which he speaks passionately about.

Benjamin hopes to pursue a career in social impact work after graduation to further contribute to the field of human rights advocacy.

Eileen Staudt

Eileen Staudt is a research intern at Asia Centre Research Hub from June to August 2024. She is currently pursuing a Master of Social Sciences degree at the University of Helsinki with a specialisation in Global Political Economy.

Eileen is primarily interested in democratisation struggles, development processes, climate change resilience, conservation, and land rights. With her extensive volunteering experience in Europe and Asia addressing developmental issues, she hopes enrich further her research skills through the internship programme with the Centre.

Zarni Maung

Zarni Maung is a research intern at Asia Centre Research Hub from June to August 2024. He is a third-year Burmese student pursuing an International Development undergraduate degree at the School of Social Innovation, Mae Fah Luang University, Thailand.

An aspiring academician, Zarni holds experience in doing qualitative research, policy writing and editorial writing. By joining the internship programme with Asia Centre, he hopes to hone his research and analytical skills on human rights and political issues in the region, reflecting his curiosity, determination, and passion for academic and professional growth.

Srushti Bharat Barbade

Srushti Bharat Barbade is a research intern at Asia Centre Training Hub from June to August 2024. She is pursuing a Master’s Degree in International Studies at Korea University.

With keen interest in Peace & Security studies, Conflict, Resolution, Regional Cooperation in Asia and War Mediation, Srushti aims to gain better insights and understanding about the geopolitical dynamics of the region. Apart from research, Srushti also holds interest in digital content creation and management.

 

Sreykun Bunthoeun

Sreykun Bunthoeun is a Research intern at the Asia Centre Training Hub from October to December 2024. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in the English Language Based Bachelor of Law (ELBBL) program at the Royal University of Law and Economics in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. 

By joining the internship program, she aims to enhance her analytical skills and expand her understanding of pressing human rights and political issues in the region. This aligns with her career aspirations of contributing to advocacy and policy development, reflecting her dedication, curiosity, and passion for driving positive social change.
